• Explore the heritage of Sweden’s Royal Family at the iconic Kungliga Slottet (The Royal Palace). Originally constructed toward the end of the 17th century, The Royal Palace today functions as the workplace for the reigning monarch of the nation. The Royal Apartments, Treasury, and Tre Kronor Museum located onsite are all available to tour.
• See the amazing displays that reside within the Historiska Museet (Swedish History Museum). One of the largest museums in all of Stockholm, it contains artifacts related to Norse mythology, medieval art, and the Viking world. Some of its most interesting pieces address the history surrounding the famous Battle of Gotland from 1361.
• Travel to the Skansen, an open-air museum that showcases some 150 different historical buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Many costumed interpreters also reenact traditional activities of the era, as well. The Skansen is also home to a thriving zoological park, which features such local animals like wolverines, otters, and the Scandinavian bear.
• Visit the Vasa Museum, which is dedicated to the incredible Vasa battleship. The vessel left on its maiden voyage in 1628, only to capsize in the harbor just 30 minutes after its launch. Today, the remains of the ship have been meticulously preserved and are on display inside this brilliant museum.
