The Omni Homestead Resort partners with regional distiller Smooth Ambler Spirits, and guests are invited to visit the craft distillery to see how they make their products by hand, from grinding the regional grains or labeling and signing each bottle. Located near the resort’s grand American Audubon Dining Room, the Virginia Wine Experience focuses solely on the wines of the Commonwealth and offers ongoing special events, educational seminars, and tastings.

Taste handmade seasonal sweets. The resort’s pastry chefs create delicious confections like sugared donuts, sticky spiced pumpkin bread, and gilded marble bonbons. Maple syrup is on tap just north of the resort in Highland County. Duff’s Sugar House is a small, family-run, old-time sugar house where the trees are still “opened” by hand and the sugar water collected in buckets.
