Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam occupies six historic canal houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which are all located along the Herengracht or “Gentleman’s Canal.” Herengracht is one of the three main canals in Amsterdam, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dutch engineers constructed the canal during the Dutch Golden Age, where The city of Amsterdam rose to become the mercantile capital of the world during the height of the seventeenth century.
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is within walking distance of many different cultural institutions for music, art, and cuisine. Guests can enjoy beautiful renditions of classical pieces at the National Opera and Ballet, admire the art of the Old Masters at the Gallery of the Golden Age, and dine in the restaurants of the Vondelpark. Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is surrounded by, and very much a part of, the historical fabric for the city of Amsterdam.
