Discover The Trafalgar St. James London, Curio Collection by Hilton, which was once home to the Cunard Steamship Company.
The Trafalgar St. James London, Curio Collection by Hilton was constructed amid the intellectual and philosophical movement that dominated Europe in the 18th century.
The Trafalgar St. James London, Curio Collection by Hilton, was once home to a shipping business called the Cunard Steamship Company during the 18th century. Many years later, the building became a popular set for several noteworthy films and television shows. It appeared in The Ipcress File (1965), as well as in Tom Cruise’s film Edge of Tomorrow (2014). The hotel’s boardroom was even used as M’s office in Dr. No (1962). The Trafalgar St. James London also appeared in the beloved television series, Doctor Who, in 2013. The Trafalgar Hotel was subsequently opened in August 2000 with a distinctive purple color scheme. Victoria and David Beckham visited that year at Christmas, and The Rolling Stones came the following year to spend time in the new roof garden. After an extensive renovation in 2017, The Trafalgar St. James London was handpicked to become a Hilton’s first Curio Collection hotel in the United Kingdom. Blending bold, innovative designs with Hilton’s excellent hospitality standards, The Trafalgar St. James London, Curio Collection by Hilton, has set the bar for upscale hotels in the area.

About the Architecture +
Housed in a building influenced by Italian architecture, The Trafalgar St. James London is the only hotel in Trafalgar Square. The Art Deco flourishes, unique wall art, plethora of books in the guestrooms, and references to the building’s history have firmly established the hotel as a stylish sanctuary in the city. The hotel’s bespoke carpets were made by Brintons, which was a British brand founded in 1783. The blue and white Axminster carpet design used in the bedrooms ties in with other items in the room, such as the red headboard, subtly representing the Union Jack. The corridor continued the deep blue palette and drew design inspiration for the star pattern from one of Lord Nelson medals: Trafalgar Square of course commemorating Nelson’s victory in the Battle of Trafalgar in the Napoleonic Wars.
