• Experience two large hangars that display thousands of aviation and space artifacts at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. It is also known as the Udvar-Hazy Center, which functions as the Smithsonian National Air and SpaceMuseum’s annex. Wander through numerous exhibits, including the Space Shuttle Discovery and the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay.
• Take a cavern tour through the Skyline Caverns, a series of geologic caves discovered in 1937 by Walter Amos, a retired geologist and mineralogist from Winchester, Virginia. It is one of the few places in the world that hosts anthodite formations. Additional attractions include a miniature train ride and an Enchanted Dragon Mirror Maze.
• Drive over to Old Town Alexandria and stroll down its red brick sidewalks. Founded in 1749, the historic city is lined with beautifully preserved 18th and 19th-century architecture. It still boasts cobblestone streets, and even has a town crier, all of which will make visitors feel like its back during George Washington’s era.
