IT’S HARD TO MISS The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore. The building’s unmistakable colonial façade is a beloved local landmark and its iconic concave entryway is perfect for a quintessential Singapore photo op.
But the building is far more than a luxurious integrated complex and 5-star heritage hotel complete with bars, restaurants and a stellar spa. Located within the integrated complex of Capitol Singapore, the hotel is made up of two historic structures — Stamford House and Capitol Building, and is next to the iconic Capitol Theatre.
The storied addresses have a history that goes back nearly a century. Built in 1929 by M.A. Namazie, the Capitol Theatre is a neo-classical masterpiece designed by British architects Keys & Dowdeswell. The development included both the theatre and Namazie Mansions (today’s Capitol Building).
