The hills are alive … with the sound of rebranding and renovation at the Trapp Family Lodge

There was a sudden spark of excitement in the wine cellar at the Trapp Family Lodge. Guests sipping their chardonnay momentarily stopped to whisper to one another or give their friends and spouses the look.
It was a look that said, “Holy schnitzel! An honest-to-goodness von Trapp just walked in the room.”
This wasn’t just any von Trapp crashing the Wednesday afternoon wine tasting. It was Kristina von Trapp Frame. She’s Maria von Trapp’s granddaughter and the Lodge’s director. If the name Maria von Trapp doesn’t ring any abbey bells, you’re probably reading the wrong travel article. Julie Andrews portrayed a fictional version of the world’s most famous singing nun-turned-governess-turned-baroness in the 1965 film “The Sound of Music.” Forget wine or whiskers on kittens; for guests, Kristina’s arrival was one of their favorite things.
