Marvel at Monarch butterflies on their annual stopover at Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa. During October and November, these winged visitors stop for a respite during their yearly migration south, building up strength for a journey across the Gulf of Mexico. Monarch sanctuaries are called waystations, and the Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa cultivates the resort’s abundant gardens as a Monarch Waystation by growing native plants like milkweed to provide both nectar and a protective habitat for the thousands of tiny travelers.

Experience the traditions of Grand Hotel Resort Golf & Spa. Watch Grandeur, Grit and Glory Since 1847: A Tribute to the History of the Grand Hotel, a history presentation that is given daily at 3:45 p.m. The viewing begins with a procession from the main lobby fireplace and culminates with the Civil War-replica cannon firing on the edge of Mobile Bay at Cannon Park. Or enjoy a game of championship croquet on the Lakewood Club croquet lawns. Truly a Grand Hotel tradition, croquet has been offered at the resort since the mid-1940s.
