The original property opened in 1886. A member of Historic Hotels of America since 2003.
Completed in 1886, the Second Empire-style Wentworth Mansion offers a fine collection of antiques and a sumptuous atmosphere. This outstanding historic hotel originally debuted as the four-story private residence of Francis Silas Rodgers and his massive extensive family. He oversaw the creation of the mansion's brilliant architectural features, including wrought-iron ornamentation, hand-carved ceilings, parquet floors, marble fireplaces, and Tiffany stained-glass windows. He even created a winding staircase that led to a cupola that still resides atop the building today. Truly, few places are better for a luxurious stay in Charleston than the historic Wentworth Mansion.
