Basin Harbor was established in 1886 by Ardelia Beach as a working farm that took in summer boarders seeking respite from the rigors of city life. The oldest operating inn on Lake Champlain with the addition of 77 cottages expanded the lodge to the 700-acre resort it is today. Five generations of the Beach family have acted as stewards of the land and continue to welcome families, weddings, and corporate groups with distinctive accommodations and unspoiled natural beauty for over 130 years. The area is steeped in rich history and offers something for all ages from the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to local breweries and vineyards.
